Working definition
The Player is the self who shows up for reps, scores the week, and treats discomfort as rule-of-game — not as verdict on worth.
How it works
Game design metaphor. Games make failure cheap, feedback fast, and progress visible. You borrow the stance without gamifying your whole life.
The Club contract on 2026-06-29: this is training, not homework — measure what progresses, not what flatters. The Player shows up for one Battle per week (one competition, not every machine in the gym). Intention is not Battle keeps sincere direction from masquerading as the muscle. Choosing the problem you want gives a real arena instead of a fantasy sabotage fight. The Tipping point is the single lever you train for seven days; victories and lead measures are how the Player scores the round.
The stance activates when:
- The move is bounded — one Battle, one rep set.
- Scorekeeping is agreed — a Playcard or lead measure the calendar can show.
- Seasons exist — a bad round does not delete the character.
Without bounds, “player” becomes avoidance of grief or responsibility — or homework that ends the week unchanged.
Reach for it when you treat growth work like homework instead of training. Pair Deliberate Play (pain and pleasure on the tipping point) with Deliberate Practice (rep quality on the edge): Player is the attitude, not the syllabus. Open Mindset when failure still reads as a verdict on fixed ability.
Signature
A player at the table, not a defendant in the dock. Same hard round, different posture: you read the score, take the next rep, and let the season — not one bad hand — define the character. The phrase that holds it: discomfort is rule-of-game, not verdict on worth.

Defendant treats discomfort as verdict · Player treats it as rule-of-game — bounded rep, agreed score, season not one hand. Room welcome on 2026-06-29 stays in prose above. Your move: Your move this week.
Yann on 2026-06-29 welcoming a new member: one Battle, one tipping point, deliberate reps, victories logged — the Player frame before the room dives into intention, problem choice, and close.
Your move this week
- Name one bounded rep — one Battle line or one rep set, not a wish list.
- Define the score you can read on Friday (victory log, lead measure, yes/no).
- Play the round; record the result — a bad round is data for the next season, not a verdict on you.
