Working definition

The Battle of the Week is the single weekly focus you chooses, by deliberately orchestrating the precise adversity needed to cross one personal tipping point.

How it works

A Battle is not a goal, and it is not a task. A goal points at an outcome; a task lists what to do. A Battle names the friction itself — the discomfort you must cross to install a new behaviour or break an old one.

Every well-formed Battle is anchored to one of the three axes of the 3B Method:

  • B1 · Be You, The Real You — the friction of dropping a layer of constructed identity to act from the truer self.
  • B2 · Be Your Real Boss — the friction of reclaiming authorship over a domain where the internal censor still runs the show.
  • B3 · Be Your Own Limits — the friction of choosing one’s own challenge level and stepping over a self-imposed boundary.

The Battle always sits inside the tipping point zone: uncomfortable enough to install a real change, small enough to be completed in one week. Without that calibration, you are either coasting (no friction) or breaking (too much friction).

The Player stance is who shows up for the round — bounded rep, agreed score, season not verdict. Adjacent concepts: Deliberate Practice (the long-arc skill loop), Deliberate Play (the pleasure-with-pain frame), Identity Gap (the upstream “why this battle”), Manual Of Me (where battles are archived).

Signature

The image is the fighter who picks one opponent per week — not ten. The Battle is the named opponent; the week is the round; you are the player — Yann on 2026-01-28.

The signature ritual: each Sunday evening, stamp a single Battle for the coming week. Record Battle Voice (~2 minutes) immediately — why this Battle, the tipping point, predicted discomfort — and replay it every morning before the day narrates you.

Spatial split — many fights (scattered focus) versus one Battle (named opponent for the week). Your move: Your move this week.
More room passes mention this doctrine in replay narrative — search the Codex for Battle Of the Week or start from the latest entry on Weekly Sessions.

Your move this week

This week’s micro-action (24–72 hours):

  1. Name your Battle in one sentence. Specific. Dated to the coming week. Contains the verb of the action you will take.
  2. Identify which axis it serves: B1, B2, or B3.
  3. Record a 2-minute Battle Voice with: why this battle, the tipping point, the predicted discomfort, what you will play with.
  4. Listen to it every morning this week, before the day starts.
  5. End of week: was the tipping point crossed? Log the result in your personal notes.
