Working definition

Be Your Real Boss is the B2 axis of the 3B Method: the daily act of reclaiming authorship of your standards, decisions, and language — refusing to be governed by an internal censor or by others’ standards.

How it works

Every member operates under two competing authorities:

  1. The internal censor — inherited standards, the self-image manager, the part that asks what will they think? before what is true for me?
  2. The real boss — the real boss in you — the version that has named your standards, decided your own metrics, and is willing to bear the consequences of being yourself.

The B2 axis is the daily training of the second authority against the first. Not a personality trait. Not a one-off declaration. A practice: every time the censor fires, the real boss either reclaims the moment or loses it.

The operational test of B2 is counter-intuitive but consistent: when the censor wins, energy stays trapped in self-image management. When the real boss wins, energy lands on the work, the client, the relationship. The same person becomes more available to others once the censor is silenced — that is how you know B2 is installed and not performed.

Your move this week

Today’s micro-action (24–72 hours):

  1. Name one recent decision that was made by your censor, not by you. Specific. One sentence.
  2. State the alternative your real boss would have made.
  3. Take one corrective action today: a message you should send, a boundary you should name, a no you should issue.
  4. Mark it in your personal notes as a victory signal if it lands.
