Definition
micro dosing (behavioural) is a small, scheduled same-day rep inside a longer deliberate-practice arc — enough to install the skill without waiting for a perfect full block.
Origin
Club language for the today’s implement inside multi-week practice (tennis grip today; weeks on the backhand). Distinct from pharmacological microdosing — here the dose is time and specificity of the rep.
Mechanism
Deliberate practice needs constrained difficulty and feedback. A micro-rep keeps the nervous system in the training loop when a full session is unavailable. Spaced, specific reps compound; vague “I’ll practice later” does not.
Applications
Morning Journal’s what I implement today line. Cold bath as focus gym. One Anki card. Two-hour writing block. Always name the micro-rep beside the multi-week target.
