Working definition
Non-negotiable backup is a named interim path that makes cancel impossible — redundancy you hope never to use, so the body stops micro-negotiating toward failure.
How it works
A single point of failure is one cable: if the room, the client, or the publish link fails, the whole week collapses into refund and shame. Non-negotiable backup flips the stack: you keep hunting the permanent fix and you install a path that already answers what if it fails? — temporary structure, alternate venue, second offer — so I cancel is no longer a live negotiation (Micro-negotiations).
Having the backup changes behaviour before you use it. Certainty rises; stomach drops; determination stops serving the fear of refund. June heat already proved the pattern: when commitment stays, alternatives appear. Firefighter posture is inventory, not hope — there is a solution for each problem as a list you can dial.
Distinction from Single point of failure: SPOF names the fragile node; non-negotiable backup is the Club install — the second cable you authorise. Distinction from Transfer of Certainty: certainty is the felt sell to self; backup is the concrete path that makes that sell honest.
