Working definition

Personal standards are the bars you set on your own behaviour — negotiable or not — before the week starts negotiating for you.

How it works

You often confuse goals with standards. A goal is an outcome you hope for; a standard is where you hold the line — posted before Club, one meal in the eating window, no impulsive lawyer ping until Friday.

When a standard is non-negotiable, the brain stops spending glucose on daily re-litigation. Yann’s line on 2026-06-12 > Personal standard when resistance speaks: discipline as the art of not betraying yourself — fidelity to the version tomorrow needs (Marcus Aurelius morning note), not punishment theatre. The constraint does not only cost you — it can produce freedom chemistry on the far side (Céline’s victory: video shipped, body registers relief + pride).

Distinction from 90-90-1: ninety-ninety-one is the one priority container; personal standards are the rails that make the container reachable daily.

The image is posted-before-Club — video shipped before the 10:00 slot because writing would stall, but the standard is published, not written. Céline on 2026-06-10: constraint → freedom — the rule creates the chemistry she felt after posting. The WOW: standards are not punishment; they are the height of the bar you chose so the week stops arguing.

Soft wish on the wall versus one if-then bar posted first — body signals when freedom chemistry lands. Your move: Your move this week.

Your move this week

  1. Name one standard you will treat as non-negotiable for seven days (one line, observable).
  2. Name one standard you will downgrade from fantasy to optional — delete the guilt, keep the honesty.
  3. Log the freedom chemistry once when the standard lands (body, not story).
