Working definition
DiSSS is the four-move learning scaffold: deconstruct the map, select the domino slice, sequence the reps, stack the proof where the subconscious can lean on it.
How it works
You often train harder on an undefined skill. If you name the whole mountain before picking the next hold, you waste the week on motion.
| Move | Question |
|---|---|
| Deconstruct | What are the sub-skills inside the identity you are building? |
| Select | Which twenty percent moves the rest this month? |
| Sequence | What order prevents fake progress? |
| Stack | Where does proof live so repetition compounds? (Manual Of Me, Flashcard) |
Yann threads DiSSS under All Success Lies in Its Preparation and Deliberate Practice — the four-move scaffold is named in The 4-Hour Chef. The lemon ladder on 2026-03-02 is DiSSS for Three Types of Imagery: pocket object → timed pings → virtual lemon → chase evidence until automatic.
Distinction from Active Recall: DiSSS designs the curriculum; active recall pays for one card at a time.

The image is the lemon in the pocket with notifications — Marie-Christine’s toothbrushing pairing on 2026-03-02: the four moves stay coupled because the object in the pocket reminds the body the stack exists.

Four-move scaffold pairs with deliberate practice reps — spatial map on Deliberate Practice. Lemon pocket stays in prose. Your move: Your move this week.
Your move this week
This week’s micro-action (24–72 hours):
- Name the skill your Battle trains this week (one noun).
- Deconstruct — list five sub-skills in five bullets (no prose).
- Select — circle one sub-skill that would move the lag if trained daily.
- Sequence — number three reps for the next seventy-two hours.
- Stack — paste the sequence into your Manual or private log in one place you will reopen.
