Working definition

Problem quality is whether the adversity you embrace matches the ambition you will admit — same effort, craft or martyrdom depending on the fit.

How it works

Problem quality is the fit test beneath Choosing the problem you want and Problems at the Height of Ambitions: not every hard week is a good Battle. Low-quality problems are borrowed — parent scripts, showroom polish, fantasy sabotage removal. High-quality problems spend books, time, energy, money, and focus on complexity you want to solve.

When quality is high, battle can name focus without heroic suffering. When quality is low, the same word maps to pain — swap the handle or redefine before you moralise the outer fight while ignoring the inner negotiation (homeostasis) your body already runs.

Fear-problems → Manual Of Me saboteur mechanics. Wanted problems → Battle Of the Week.

Failure modes

  • Intensity mistaken for quality — choosing the hardest problem because it feels heroic, not because it fits ambition.
  • Anxiety laundering — calling fear-problems battles so effort feels earned without forward motion.
  • Borrowed martyrdom — fighting a direction the script assigned, not one you would pick at rest.

Fear-problems → Manual · wanted problems → Battle — same soreness, craft or martyrdom by fit only. Your move: Your move this week.

Your move this week

  1. One line — problem I want (delegation, adult definition, visibility, cadence).
  2. One line — problem I only solve from fear (route to Manual, not Battle).
  3. Re-read both through problem quality — which would still be worth the soreness if no one applauded?
