Working definition

Choose the Wall Before the Climb is the alignment gate before execution — confirm the surface and direction before you invest climb effort, so action does not arrive at the wrong destination.

How it works

Members often confuse naming the gap with choosing the wall. Identity Gap names the distance between current-self and needed-self. This doctrine names the pre-climb check: is the ladder leaning on the right surface for that gap?

Without the check, massive action can feed determined identity while the destination stays wrong — honest effort, wrong wall. Marie-Aude’s recurring image: most members climb for years, arrive at the top, and discover the ladder leaned on the wrong wall — 2026-01-30. Yann sharpens the check on 2026-05-06: am I on the right ladder?

Distinction from Identity Gap: Gap work answers who am I now versus who I need to become. Wall work answers before I climb again, is this the correct surface for that named gap? Run gap first; run wall second; then Battle Of the Week as bridge segment.

Spatial split — wrong wall (effort without alignment) versus right wall (surface chosen before the climb). Your move: Your move this week.

Your move this week

This week’s micro-action (24–72 hours):

  1. Name your Identity Gap in one sentence (current-self → needed-self).
  2. Before the next push, ask: Is this ladder on the right wall for that gap?
  3. If no — adjust surface or direction before adding reps; if yes — climb.
