Working definition
Attention is the currency of learning — the quality of focus you prepare and protect sets how fast a competence (calm, craft, recovery) actually compounds.
How it works
Motivation without attention buys noise. When the skill is return to calm under anxiety, learning rate tracks how cleanly you can place attention on the dials, the breath, or the cue — and subtract distraction.
- Name the competence you are buying with attention this week.
- Prepare the attention system (All Success Lies in Its Preparation) — notifications, NFC, hour checks — so you do not rely on memory.
- Spend on the lead behaviour (score, journal, return), not on rumination about whether you should.
- Pair with extreme discipline → extreme freedom: fixed cues free cognitive budget for the hard work.
Distinction from Feedback as learning currency: feedback currency is the quality of the signal you capture; attention currency is the bandwidth you allocate to train. You need both. Distinction from attention governance: governance is the OS of where attention goes; this concept names attention as the unit of exchange for learning.
Signature
Hourly ping: score body + mind — the bell spends the currency for you. Candle / wall-point meditation: each return is a paid rep of attentional myelin.

Spatial split — Motivation only (willpower leak · distraction tax) versus Currency prepared (cue → protected spend → lead). Your move: Your move this week.
Your move this week
Add one external cue that fires the observation you want (calm dials, harvest, supplement) — remove one micro-negotiation of “do I check now?”
