Working definition

Proaction is the move you install before the trigger; reaction is the scramble after the event already owns you.

How it works

The Club uses a video-game frame: you do not learn controls mid-boss-fight. All Success Lies in Its Preparation and Active Recall sit on the proaction side — flashcards and daily five-minute stacks that force you to produce the answer before the room demands it.

The image is the boss phase with controls unlearned — Yann’s video-game frame on 2026-05-13: you do not learn the buttons while the boss owns the screen. Proaction installs the stack before Monday; reaction spends the week scrambling after the trigger.

Spatial split — reaction (trigger owns the screen) versus proaction (stack learned before the boss phase). Your move: Your move this week.
More room passes mention this doctrine in replay narrative — search the Codex for Proaction vs Reaction or start from the latest entry on Weekly Sessions.

Your move this week

This week’s micro-action (24–72 hours):

  1. Name one recurring trigger (meeting, close, family friction).
  2. Write the one-line proaction you run before the trigger — not the repair script after.
  3. Schedule the proaction ten minutes before the next instance on your calendar.
  4. After the event, mark ran proaction / forgot — one word only.
  5. If forgot twice, shrink the proaction until it fits one breath.
