Maciej Behnke and Łukasz Kaczmarek synthesize 19 studies (N = 1,045) on challenge versus threat cardiovascular markers and behavioral performance. After bias correction, effects remain small but significant — supporting the biopsychosocial distinction without overstating the inverted-U story.
