Definition
A visual sabotage map externalises the failure-strategy chain so you can see the sequence instead of swimming in it.
Origin
Beck’s cognitive model maps trigger → thought → emotion → behaviour as inspectable links. Young’s schema therapy adds early maladaptive patterns that repeat across contexts — diagramming makes the chain teachable.
Mechanism
Draw nodes for trigger, belief, feeling, avoidance move, short-term payoff, long-term cost. Externalising breaks fusion — you can point at the map instead of being the map. Simple enough to explain to a child = test for clarity.
Applications
One map per recurring failure loop; update after each crash test — did the sequence change or only the story?
