Definition
Semantic self-sabotage is encoding failure in the sentence itself — e.g. it will be hard to communicate programs difficulty as truth before you test the market.
Origin
Operational label from coaching vocabulary, aligned with cognitive linguistics on how labels shape affect.
Mechanism
Thought → word choice → emotion → behaviour. Automatic thoughts in cognitive therapy are fast, believable, and often negative — defeat-language (hard, impossible, they won’t listen) installs the affect before evidence arrives. Schema work adds deeper belief structures that filter which sentences feel true. Rewrite toward testable niche language and observable next moves, not mood cheerleading.

Applications
Catch defeat-language at the point of speech; replace with ingredients that animate you and observable niche language.
